Our Approach

We believe that no two people are alike, so we tailor therapy to the individual, couple or family. Our style integrates humanistic, mindful awareness, communication and problem solving approaches. Our core belief is that we all have the ability to heal from anything life throws our way and as therapists we are there to assist our clients to uncover their healing potential. It’s simple -- people come to therapy because they’re experiencing some kind of pain. We help them come to terms with what that pain is, where it’s coming from and how to manage and heal it.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
At some point each of us faces challenging, hurtful or confusing events in our lives. If it's a major event like the loss of a loved one, we might not even see a way forward, and therapy can help process overwhelming feelings. Other challenges we deal with the best way we know how. The next time something difficult happens in our lives, we often go back to how we solved it the first time. Although we try our best, with time, our reactions often become a pattern that no longer serves our highest good. Therapy can help us to remember and learn other skills, so that we can efficiently and happily meet the ups and downs of life.

COUPLES THERAPY
Relationships require work, an investment of time and energy. But it’s easy to get stuck in arguments or patterns and not see a way out. Our job is to help you and your partner improve communication and your understanding of each other, and ultimately discover and choose the path toward the relationship that you want.

FAMILY THERAPY

In families, each member has a role that is influenced by the other members in the family. Our goal is to help family members clarify who they want to be and how to change patterns that no longer serve the family.

ART THERAPY

Do I have to use art? The answer of course, is no, you don’t have to. However, we will encourage you to try using art. Art is a powerful way to express ourselves, and is also a way to learn our true intentions, to practice mindfulness, to process and make sense of things. Art gives voice to parts of ourselves we don’t have words for, it helps us find perspective and see things we couldn’t see before, and allows each person to have a voice.

GROUP THERAPY
Group therapy brings together people who are going through similar issues including anger, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and transitions. Group therapy can be used as a sole form of treatment or in conjunction with individual, couples and/or family therapy. Please see our Groups & Workshops section for details on the groups we offer.
